Drama
About our Program
At Bishop Blanchet, our drama department's motto is "Truth and Courage." Whether students intend to pursue a career in theatre or are simply looking to try something new, we believe that making theatre cultivates creativity, sensitivity and enthusiasm in young people, and our program offers a supportive environment where students can make bold choices.
The drama department offers a comprehensive three-part sequential acting program, three classes in theatre design, and a three-show season: a fall play, a student directed one-act festival, and a spring musical.
Students can participate in the performances both on stage acting and behind the scenes with one of our five crews: Stage Crew, Costume Crew, Hair and Makeup Crew, Marketing Crew, and Stage Management.

Spring Musical 2024
Camelot
by Lerner and LoeweThree amazing performances of our spring musical, Camelot, have left us feeling the magic of this special production! Our cast, crews, and faculty continue to put out inspiring art that takes our breathe away!
"Ask ev'ry person if he's heard the story; And tell it strong and clear if he has not: That once there was a fleeting wisp of glory called Camelot. Camelot! Camelot!" - King Arthur
The 2024 Spring Musical was Lerner and Loewe’s Camelot! Borrowing from the Arthurian legends, this fantastical masterpiece triumphed on Broadway in a legendary original production that lead to a film version and numerous revivals in New York, London, and across the globe. Its Original Broadway Cast album topped the charts for 60 weeks, with a rich score boasting such gems as "If Ever I Would Leave You," “I Loved You Once in Silence,” "The Lusty Month of May," and of course, "Camelot."

Fall Play 2023
Middletown
by Will Eno
Bravo Cast and Crews! Middletown performed to three sold out audiences, November 3-5, 2023!
Middletown is a deeply moving and funny play exploring the universe of a small American town. As a friendship develops between longtime resident John Dodge and new arrival Mary Swanson, the lives of the inhabitants of Middletown intersect in strange and poignant ways in a journey that takes them from the local library to outer space and points between. The characters in Middletown are word-woozy poet-philosophers who dispense piercing observations about life, death and the cosmos, the need for love and forgiveness, and the search for meaning in life—the long, lonely ache of disappointment.
